This school year I started a new adventure, I have transitioned as an instructional coach from elementary to high school. Quite an adventure! At the begining, I was truly nervous trying to learn my way around the ELA department. I was so used to have all my resources and materials at the tip of my fingers to meet the needs of my students and teachers. So I started looking and looking for them...just to find out that there were minimal resources published, as I was used to, in my elementary world. 

First challenge; lack of scaffolding materials for struggling readers. And, oh boy! was I needing them?!

So this blog is to share the instructional resources and experiences that I have adapted from my 10 years of very succesfull coaching practice. Don't get me wrong, I still have alot to learn...but as life goes on, these resources have made my life so much easier! Hope they make yours easy too.

Read the selection from the essay “Love’s Vocabulary” by Diane Ackerman. 

1.    Read Lines 2-4 excerpt from “Love’s Vocabulary”.

"Hate stalks the streets with dripping fangs, fear flies down narrow alleyways on leather wings, and jealousy spins sticky webs across the sky.”

What is being compared in Lines 2–4?  

A.Negative feelings to nightmare “beasts” that Ackerman describes.
